Guidance for visually impaired visitors at the Festspielhaus HELLERAU

In order to improve navigation within the Festspielhaus and reduce physical barriers, a tactile floor plan was developed that makes it possible for blind and partially sighted people to experience the routes and room layout in the foyer and side wings.

Based on these tactile stations, an acoustic guidance system called Visor Boxes, developed by Dr Blüher (German Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired), is now being used in the Festspielhaus. The Visor app is used to provide route information for people, which in turn can trigger acoustic signals on over 30 Bluetooth speakers in the building and enable blind people to move around the building independently.
