The villa\wigman is a historically significant location for contemporary dance: Mary Wigman ran her school here from 1920, and the extension buildings from 1927 still characterise the ensemble today. Since 2019, the building has been run by the Villa Wigman Association for Dance as a production centre for the independent performing arts and is gradually being developed as an artistic space for work, experimentation and thought.

For Plattform Plus, the villa\wigman opens its spaces for artistic interventions, talks and events that deepen the exchange on current perspectives of contemporary dance.

How to get to villa\wigman

villa\wigman can be reached via the tram stop “Nordstraße” (tram 11). A rollable footpath (approx. 250 m) leads to the main entrance of the building. There are no designated parking spaces on the premises, but there are two driveways that provide two barrier-free parking spaces.

Accessibility

Access to villa\wigman is not barrier-free and requires climbing three steps. Assistance is available to help visitors enter the building. The ground floor, where all the halls are located, is barrier-free. The first floor is accessible via stairs and will therefore not be used for public events during Tanzplattform Deutschland 2026. A barrier-free toilet is located on the ground floor.
