The Societaetstheater, Dresden's oldest theatre and tucked away in the baroque district of Neustadt, is today a lively production venue for the independent performing arts.

As a venue for the Tanzplattform Deutschland 2026, the Societaetstheater presents events from the accompanying programme Plattform Plus and thus becomes a space for exchange, contextualisation and in-depth insights into current developments in contemporary dance.

How to get to the Societaetstheater

By car

There is no parking directly in front of the building. The nearest parking spaces are located on An der Dreikönigskirche street. From there, walk under a bridge to the Societaetstheater (follow the signs).  Barrier-free parking is available approximately 250 meters from the theater, at the Neustädter Markthalle on Metzerstraße 1.

By public transportation

There are two tram stops that serve the Societaetstheater: “Neustädter Markt” (lines 4 and 9) and “Albertplatz” (lines 3, 6, 7, 8, and 11). The Societaetstheater is within walking distance of both stops, about 400-500 m. The ground is mostly concrete. Short distances are covered with small paving stones (easy to roll on).

Accessibility

The foyer and box office of the Societaetstheater are accessible via a glass door at ground level. If the door is closed, there is a bell on the outside of the frame. The Gutmann Hall and the cloakroom are accessible by elevator. All doorways are threshold-free. A barrier-free restroom is located next to the box office in the foyer.
