Since 1994, Tanzplattform has served as a forum for contemporary dance in and from Germany, connecting artists, curators, and journalists. It was initiated at a time when contemporary dance had little visibility on the cultural agenda.
The installation “Resonance Space: Dance Speaks – Tanzplattform Deutschland” gives voice to the artists and initiators of the early editions of the platform, offering insights into the context of the independent dance scene in the 1990s – including its cultural-political and economic conditions, as well as its aesthetic and socio-political dimensions.
The project “Resonanzraum: Tanz erzählt - Tanzplattform Deutschland” (Resonance Space: Dance Speaks – Tanzplattform Deutschland) is part of the broader concept “Tanz erzählt”, which seeks to develop new (digital) ways of accessing dance and dance history. Its goal is to make the intersections of dance research, archival material, and journalism tangible and accessible to a wider public.
The installation invites visitors into a space of resonance – between past and present perspectives, between memories and hopes.
